Maya has just returned from their father’s funeral with the rest of their family. Maya is
worn out, heartbroken and quite delirious at this point. They reflect on all of the care they had put into their chronically ill father, how desperately his survival was dependent on them. It begins to sink in that there is a sense of relief over their caregiving coming to an end as they shower, and are able to care for themselves for the first time in a very long time. This act of care for themself allows for the emotions they had been suppressing since their father’s diagnosis to settle in. This newfound sympathy brings them to tears.
